Challenge Breakers is a summer course which aims to teach the basics of scientific research in an untypical way. In the course interdisciplinary teams will pick a myth or an urban legend and over the summer try to conform it in style of the TV series “MythBusters”. While conducting the hands-on experiments students are required to explain the science behind what they find out. Over the course, students learn how to plan their own scheduling and division of labor and acquire pitching, presenting and video making skills.

Course code: AAN-C1002

The course is accepted as part of the Aalto studies in ENG, SCI, CHEM and ELEC.

“Challenge breakers is a course to put those urban legends to the test. In this course students will learn the basics about the scientific method, rapid prototyping and how to transmit recently acquired knowledge to general public. After selecting their own challenges or myths, students will have budget, access to Design Factory and support from experts to carry on the experiments needed to approve or disprove their hypothesis so they can then do a video to show their findings.”
